LA Wilder Hikes - Merritt Lake August 5, 2008

Cindy and I hiked up to Merritt Lake today for a little fishing and relaxing in the sun. It was warm, but comfortable while we were there and we were a little surprised because we thought it would be hotter. We didn't get into mosquitoes until we got almost to the lake. I was able to get away from the bugs where I was fishing since it was in the sun and I was on boulders. I did have on a long sleeve shirt to keep them off my arms while I fished. I hooked 6 trout and brought in 5. They were certainly not lunkers, but since I release them anyway, size doesn't really matter to me. For me, the fun is in getting them to take my fly. Cindy hung out on the rocks in a shadey spot and watched the trout swimming around. It was a lovely, peaceful day and I had so much fun enticing those fish.

My Favorite Fishing Spot
This is looking across the lake to my favorite fishing spot on this lake. The water is deeper at the end where you can see all the boulders and there is plenty of space to cast my line without hanging up in brush.

The West Shoreline
This is the west shoreline where Cindy hung out while I fished.
